The Maya temples and pyramids of Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula will be explored with a spiritual focus in a guided tour recently announced by Sacred Earth Journeys (http://www.sacredearthjourneys.ca/current-tours/maya-sacred-path-to-2012/tour-description).

The ten-day “Maya Sacred Path to 2012″ tour, December 2 – 11, 2010, will include Chichen Itza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. There will be excursions to archaeological sites at Labna, Edzna and Mayapan, as well as subterranean caverns at Ik Kil and Xtakunbilxunan, an entrance to the Maya Underworld. A boat ride in the Rio Lagartos nature preserve will take the group to a picturesque fishing village, home to Mexico’s largest flock of flamingos.

“The Maya not only excelled in mathematics and astronomy, they also had a spiritual connection to the earth and the cosmos,” said tour co-leader Miguel Angel Vergara Calleros, who has been studying and teaching the Maya wisdom for more than 25 years.

The other leader, Dr. Richard Jelusich, Ph.D., is a teacher and director at the California Institute for Human Science, and author of two books on metaphysics and self-empowerment. Dr. Jelusich will reveal details about the Mayan calendar which some people believe predicts major changes to the world on December 21, 2012, as dramatized in the disaster movie “2012″.

In Izamal, Yucatan’s oldest city, the group will visit a Franciscan Monastery, built in 1561 upon the base of a Maya pyramid, and Miguel Angel will conduct a ceremony to activate the light and help participants to connect with ancient wisdom.

Four-star accommodations include a restored 17th century hacienda in Yucatan’s second oldest colonial city and a seaside resort on the Gulf of Mexico.

For three millennia Tepoztlan Mexico has been home to shamans, healers and artisans. The power that drew the ancients remains. In June, 2009, this well-known spiritual center where energy and mysticism converge, will be the site of the 14th annual goddess retreat organized by Elaine Dodson of Sacred Journey Retreats.

Here is how Ms. Dodson describes the experience:
Home to Queztacoyatl, the plummed serpent god, this area is a place of transformation and regeneration. It is a sacred women’s power site where Aztec Priestesses were trained. Today you will see holistic and alternative medicine businesses throughout the quaint town.

The Mayans served as the messengers of the cosmic knowledge universal philosophy that teaches us that the human body belongs to the Earth, and the human spirit to the Universe. Now is the time of the Maya, the knowledge that has been embedded in the sacred Mayan temples and in our own cellular memory is reawakening and preparing for 2012 – the end of the Mayan calendar and a time of great transformation.According to the Mayans, these changes will permit us to make a quantum leap forward in the evolution of our consciousness.

This is our destiny and so it is encoded in our genes. This sacred journey will help you understand this cosmic process, the wisdom of the Maya and how to connect with your sacred self.

Highlights:

Linda Caswell will teach her simple and unique meditation practice, “Finding Time Sitting Still.” You will learn how to make peace with your mind, improve your health and link to your divine inner Presence…in only 10 to 20 minutes a day. Linda, a daily meditator for over 30 years, teaches workshops and private classes in Dallas, Texas. Over 1,000 people have taken Finding Time Sitting Still since 2001.

You will also take a day trip to the Xochicalco Pyramids and other archeological zones where Shaman Eduardo Morales will lead us through a Mayan Initiation Journey to tap into the true power of the Mayan culture, to learn how you were created and to worship Mother Earth and Father Sun.
Fire Ceremony Luci Lara Salyer, craniosacral therapist, shamanic practioner, bodyworker, world craniofacial foundation. During this retreat, Luci will lead us in a shamanic fire ceremony to help us release our fears and give birth to our power, and she will give individual healing sessions.
Lauren will share with us how to have fun and rejoice in the sacred “Yoga Trance Dance.” Yoga Trance Dance flows into an exploration of free-form, breath driven movement to liberate one’s creative life-force and cultivate embodied freedom. This is a powerful dance to open you up to more of who you really are.

mari Feng Shui Fashion Mari Bowlin, image consultant with 30 years in beauty, wellness, fashion and spa industries, has a degree in women’s studies and is a facilitator with the Clarity Insititute.

This is not really about a sacred site or a traditional pilgrimage place, but certainly Buddhists or anyone who has a deep respect for His Holiness The Dalai Lama may be interested to know that he is going to be in Mexico City this September.

The Dalai Lama will give a three-day teaching on the Six Paramitas (“Perfections”) on September 8, 9 and 10.

In honor of the Dalai Lama’s visit, a spiritual travel opportunity is being offered by the Marquis Reforma’s “Enlightenment” package, which includes admission to the September 9th teaching by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and accommodations for two nights, September 8th and 9th.

Marquis Reforma’s “Enlightenment” spiritual travel package is priced at $450 or $550 per person, depending on the seating section in the Metropolitan Theatre, a 10-minute drive from the hotel.

To reserve the “Enlightenment” spiritual travel package call the Marquis Reforma toll free at 877-238-9399 or directly at 011-52-624-144-2000. For more information on Marquis Reforma please visit Mexico City Hotels (www.marquisreforma.com).

The Marquis Reforma (www.marquisreforma.com) is a 209-room boutique hotel on fashionable Paseo de la Reforma. The hotel is a short walk from the City’s finest museums including the renowned Museum of Anthropology.

Marquis Reforma’s spacious, elegant spa is the largest in the region and recently introduced ayurvedic treatments to its extensive menu. For dining, the hotel’s new Los Canarios restaurant is one of the City’s top dining spots, where live canaries serenade guests. La Jolla restaurant serves a savory Mexican buffet and an a la carte menu of international favorites, and the Lounge on the lobby level offers a chic ambience for evening cocktails and lavish Sunday brunch.

Marquis Reforma’s unique mix of Mexican art with Art Deco designs enhances its charm and warmth. Its glowing pink granite and glass façade has welcomed celebrities including Salma Hayek, Sting, Liza Minelli, Phil Collins, and Elton John. All rooms and suites offer dramatic views over Mexico City’s rooftops or Reforma Avenue.

It is said that the positive energies of pilgrims visiting a site help contribute to its energies, so perhaps the fact that the Dalai Lama and his followers will be at the Metropolitan Theater may help make it a future pilgrimage site.
